Year End Summary

Favorite Part of Class

My favorite part of class was being able to work independently. Having the freedom to work at my own pace was a breath of fresh air. Also what I enjoyed a lot was being able to help with other groups shoots. Before we would only shoot in our own groups, but with the freedom to shoot outside of class it became a lot easier. Seeing how other people performed their tasks and managed their crew was also an interesting and insightful experience.

What I Learned the Most

I've learned the most about how to deal with people on a set. Being outside of school completely changes the dynamic and it really shows you who is a hard worker and who isn't. Being able to pick and choose who I worked with is great, but it is important to know how to work with people you wouldn't want to work with. It is a key role of the director to keep everyone motivated on the shoot. This is essential because if no one is trying than you aren't going to have a good movie. It takes everyone being committed to the film for it to be good. Sometimes certain people's work won't be seen, but that's ok. You never want to tell them to work less hard because when what they do is being seen and it's not quality, it gets noticed.

What I Didn't Like

Finding people that are hard workers and available to film is not an easy task. When I was making my weekend films the biggest problem that I ran into was people not being available. Also obviously the virus which prevented me from making films for the past few months. Overall though, I thought I made a lot of progress creatively this year and learned a lot more in the process.

Shepard Fairey - Text and Image

Text and Image in Art Arguably the most mainstream principal of postmodern art, text and image can be seen everywhere, literally. This principal reaches far and wide into almost every medium of communication whether that be politics, advertising, or entertainment (memes). Of all of the principals of postmodernism, text and image might just be the easiest to implement. All you need to do is take some form of art and somehow implement texts onto the work. However simple it may be, text and image is also very effective. The effectiveness of text and image is also why its used so commonly. If you want to send a message, simply attract an audience with the artwork and place your message on top of it. The audience will be sure to see your message as well as your art. Shepard Fairey - Background Shepard Fairey was born on February 15, 1970 in Charleston, South Carolina. Fairey graduated from Idyllwild Arts Academy in Palm Springs, California in 1988. Investigation 2/28

Brainstorming Process Currently ironing out the idea for my next film and it has been a bit of a ride. Since my last film was about not being able to come up with an idea now I have to come up with an idea. I started off with a rough concept for a guy stuck in a dream and went with that for a week and a half or so, than I realized it was bad. I just didn't know what the focus of the story was. So, I totally changed the script and here are the pages of my notebook where I worked it out.
