Avant Garde Film

Aspect ratio is the ratio between the width and height of the image. On the other hand, resolution is the overall amount of pixels being used to create the image or the number of pixels used to display the image. Throughout this film there were a lot of successes, however, there are also a lot of recommendations I would have for anyone doing this sort of a film in the future. One of the things that was done well in the film was the lighting when the main character is working late at the office. Another thing that I thought was done well was the bokeh effect when he is in the dark room. This was accomplished by using Christmas lights that were hung from the ceiling. The last thing that I thought was a success was the use of the watercolor dripping down into the water. I thought this added an interesting change of pace throughout the film because it had its own tempo that it kept relatively well during the entire film. Now there are a few things that could be done better if I were to remake this film. The first one is to write down new changes to the storyboard that are made while filming. This might not seem that important but if you make changes to the shots, location, or events you could easily miss or forget a shot that might have been crucial to conveying the point of the film. Another thing to change would be the pacing of the shots because even though I meant to make the film seem slow and boring just like life it can be quite dulling for the audience. Finally, the last change I would make is to try to focus back on the principles of design in order to better convey the meaning of the film to the viewer. Overall I think the film worked out quite well and was a very educational experience.

Donut scene

The biggest challenge that I faced in this project was making the plate. I wanted a particular look to the plate that was proving to be a challenge. I wanted the curve to go up and then out in a smooth and natural fashion. This was a little difficult to accomplish with the bezier curve because I was working with multiple curves in a slim area. It created difficulty because the curves were almost overlapping and made it hard to see which curve was which. I overcame this challenge through trial and error. I used trial and error by seeing what happened when one curve was adjusted and then I would undo that action. I kept doing this until I achieved the result that I wanted. That is how I overcame the challenge of forming the curves for the plate.

Film Score Investigation

Why Music? Music is an essential part of film. It can be used to set the tone for a scene or to drive the action. When used correctly in conjunction with visuals, music can transform the emotional experience of a film. Some of the most memorable moments of a film are because of the score. Film scores can be used to build tension, fear, or any emotion. For this investigation I will be learning about how to create a film score. The Psychological Effect of Music In Film 1 during our study of film history we discussed what is known as the Kuleshov effect. The Kuleshov effect is an analysis of how the audiences interpretation of an image changes in relation to the next image. So if you have a man with a neutral face and you cut to a hamburger and back to the man he looks hungry. Similarly, music creates a tone for the visuals presented to the audience. This tone is what allows the audience to understand the emotions they are intended to be feeling while viewing the film. A grea...
