Chase Scene

Camera movements are mainly used to change or enhance the emotional direction of the film. For example, a slow dolly out makes the character seem emotionally lost and abandoned. Camera angles can be used to force the audience to focus on a specific action. They are also used to portray principals of design which in turn add to the audience's emotions.

A few things I thought were done well was the pacing. The quick shots allowed for a faster pace which made the chase seem more critical and intense. Another thing I thought was done well was the use of principals of design. Certain principals of design that were included greatly contributed to the overarching plot and goal of the chase. Those are some of the things that I thought were done well in this chase scene. On the contrary, I thought that the costumes of the actors changing made the film slightly confusing. Another thing was the speed of the actors running had to be sped up to the point where it almost took away from the actual chase. In total, those are the successes and things that could have been done better in the chase.

Film Score Investigation

Why Music? Music is an essential part of film. It can be used to set the tone for a scene or to drive the action. When used correctly in conjunction with visuals, music can transform the emotional experience of a film. Some of the most memorable moments of a film are because of the score. Film scores can be used to build tension, fear, or any emotion. For this investigation I will be learning about how to create a film score. The Psychological Effect of Music In Film 1 during our study of film history we discussed what is known as the Kuleshov effect. The Kuleshov effect is an analysis of how the audiences interpretation of an image changes in relation to the next image. So if you have a man with a neutral face and you cut to a hamburger and back to the man he looks hungry. Similarly, music creates a tone for the visuals presented to the audience. This tone is what allows the audience to understand the emotions they are intended to be feeling while viewing the film. A grea...

Final Robot Animation

This project was an incredible learning experience that is applicable for both film and animation. What I learned was that goals must remain relevant to the task being performed at hand. The hardest part of this project was creating the concept that I had produced in pre production. The idea and goals that I created for myself in pre production were simply not possible with the time I allowed myself to accomplish them. The worst part about this predicament is that it forces you to decide what corners need to be cut in production to meet the deadline. The painful part is choosing the right corners to cut which allow the story to retain most of its original form. I ended up having to cut out the entire planned ending and shorten the film, completely altering the overall meaning. Next time I will use this information to better judge the time required to accomplish certain tasks. However, I did have a few successes though. These include, lighting large areas in pleasing and understandabl...
